Why are cars not made uncrushable?

Rivka Killmer: its nearly impossible to make a car uncrushable. and anything that came close would be way too expensive, and way to heavy to move very fast. Most cars now are designed to crush in a way that protects the passengers depending on how it is hit. Most good cars when they get into a wreck where the front is hit, it will crumble all the way back to the cabin, but usually won't go past the cabin. this helps absorb the impact and protects the passengers. They don't try to make cars indestructible, they just try to design them to crash in a safer way...Show more

Lavelle Viveiros: they make crush zones in cars so the body gets all the impactinstead of your body..

Leora Klingelhoets: If the car did not crumple up to some extent then that would leave you to absorb the impact by bouncing around inside the car. Do you think you can handle that?

Norine Lomonte: there will be no business for garages to repair them, just like there's no built-in speed li! mits in cars, because the police won't get any money...It's all about the money...

Nicolasa Henke: get a tank

Danette Slotnick: Cars are made as cheaply as possible to make a profit. The bodywork of a car is little more than a tin can. It always annoys me when people in films and TV shelter behind cars from gunfire unless they have sonething solid like the engine block in front of themselves!....Making an uncrushable car would be hugely costly if possible and still not protect the driver and passengers from harm and their own bad driving that cause crashes......Show more

Lindsey Zanardi: If the car doesn't absorb the impact then you do! That's the problem with the so called "smart" cars.
