How to create a board game based on World War ll?

Lita Thammorongsa: 1

Inge Mclaurine: copy axis and allies or risk

Carter Dewater: There are thousands of boardgames based on World War II or parts of it. Check Boardgame Geek at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/ for examples.

Lanita Reichman: Object of the game: capture Hitler. The playing pieces: tanks and airplanes in the fashion of Russian, American, English. German, Italian and Japanese models. The board: Along the lines of "Life," or "Sorry" or "Monopoly" -- spaces to achieve by a roll of the dice. Hitler is pictured at the center. Players must advance along a route and be the first to land on the Hitler spot. Some of the spaces are neutral and benign (perhaps you want to give them the names of cities in neutral countries such as Switzerland and Sweden). Other spaces are marked with pitfalls, such as "Your general is captured; go back ten spaces." Others are marked with victories, such as, "Your reinforcements catch up; you and all your country's allies a! dvance ten spaces." Perhaps people draw cards at such spots, rather than have all this written in one tiny space. Base the pitfalls and victories on actual events during WWII.Yes, if the Axis powers reach Hitler first, history is changed...fascinating idea, eh? ; )...Show more

Thurman Buege: Avalon Hill marketed superb board games (back before computer games)Check out the links regarding one of its WWII games. Maybe this will give yo an idea of which way to start.

Mikel Bethay: Hey,If you need to download Axis and Allies you can get it here for free: http://bit.ly/1BDwYYP it's completely free and it's very fast to installIn addition to being a new real-time strategy game, Axis

Rose Krouse: Yes, you have chosen the situation with the most games based on it! Your best bet would be to choose a theme and create a game about that. Examples of games and themes: the entire war (Axis & Allies by Avalon Hill), the European Theatre (Europe at War by Jedko Games), ! the Pacific Theatre (War at Sea by Avalon Hill), and Politics ! (Origins of World War II by Avalon Hill). These are the simplest games of a complex subject. Boardgame Geek and ConSim World are the best palces on the web to start. Memorial Day is coming up and perhaps there is a gaming convention being held near you. A game convention would be a great place to get inspiration and help....Show more
