What are the benefits of sending your preschooler to a preschool center?

Christy Tirabassi: the only main difference is the social part of the child's development. if she is a legit teacher, you're child's not going to be learning different things than in the preschool. i have to say though, that the three levels of development are based on cognitive, physical and social/emotional. if you want your child to thrive in all three areas, a center might be best for a while. make sure you do your research in finding the right center! go on tours, meet with teachers and possibly other families who take their child to preschool...Show more

Alexandria Popik: I absolutely loved the preschool I went to at my local YMCA. I'm sure an at-home preschool would be just as good, but the people at the YMCA were experts in their field. I mean, child care isn't rocket science, but those ladies had years and years of experience. For me personally, the biggest benefit of preschool was learning my ABCs & 123s with other kids, and seeing that kids learn thing! s at their own pace. I also compared my artwork with other kids, and saw that different kids have different styles, and that's ok. We also had awesome parties, snacks, a great playground, etc....Show more

Tyree Allenbrand: midsection- greater young toddlers, greater events, greater colds, and greater ignored artwork days. living house- fewer colds, nearer monitoring, much less publicity to different young toddlers (might properly be a stable element on account that toddlers %. up undesirable behavior youthful)

Toney Flaten: being in preschool will help the child interact with others better and learn to not be codependent....the child learns at a young age not to have to be around mommy and daddy all of the time! this helps foster independent development. furthermore, the child will also learn how to learn with others around! remember, it can be pretty distracting to do work with other kids around...but if you are put in that environment early, I'm sure it will h! elp give your child the experience she needs to be productive ! with distractions.also....i am unsure of your financial situation but Montessori school ought to be considered. of course, do your research on which schools are in your area but Montessori schools have a phenomenal reputation for a reason! Montessori school helps kids LOVE to learn...when i went, they asked "what do you want to learn today?" and one girl had a sister who did multiplication...so she wanted to learn too! and guess what? we were doing multiplication before kindergarten! ALSO...the majority of the kids in the montessori program i was in also became part of the gifted program in elementary school, which then propelled us into the gifted program in middle school and then in to the AP program in high school. My former AP government teacher asked "how many of you went to montessori school?"...everyone but one person raised their hands. anyway, if you cant afford montessori school i would suggest that you at least enroll your child to a preschool center...of course,! do your research first and make sure that the center will be worthwhile! and then also try to extend the learning into the home...Show more

Tory Clapper: I've sent all 3 kids to a home daycare. Which I loved. The kids all really loved their daycare provider because she could give them more one on one attention than in a center. There are fewer children in a home daycare environment than in a preschool so that is one of the main differences. The material taught is pretty much the same because a home daycare also has to meet the same certification standards.Your child would be exposed to more children and more of a 'school' environment. There are both pros and cons to this. It would give your child more of an idea of what to expect when she finally does transition to school. This may help her assimilate more quickly. I guess it really depends on what you think she wants/needs. My daycare provider told me when she thought each child was ready to leave her for a ! preschool. It was a different age for each child. Some thrive from a ! younger age in preschool because they crave the more structured environment and like to be around a lot of kids. Some other kids are really traumatized by such a huge change and may need to be eased into it, preschool one day a week and daycare the rest of the week. You know your child best and should talk to your provider about what is best for her based on her needs and personality....Show more
