Michelle Sohre: Register an Aircraft In the United States you have to meet the requirement of FAR 47 by being a U.S. citizen, hold a permanent alien registration card or be a corporation. If you meet this then you can do the following:Send a check or money order made payable to the United States Treasury in the amount of $5 (U.S. Funds) along with the completed AC Form 8050-1, Aircraft Registration Application, and Bill of Sale signed in ink from the last registered owner to the FAA Aircraft Registration Branch. Use of an original Aircraft Registration Application, AC Form 8050-1, is required. Photocopies and computer-generated copies of this form are not acceptable for the registration of aircraft. Aircraft Registration Applications may be obtained from the Aircraft Registration Branch or your local FAA Flight Standards District Office (FSDO). Rosalyn Olivera: Well, I don't believe any aircraft manufacturer will release a plane to you unless its registered. To register a plane, you go to the nearest FAA office or contact them and have them send you a bill of sale and registration application. The previous owner fills out the bill of sale and you fill out the registration. I believe the fee is still only $20. An! d as my compatriot and I mentioned, you might as well buy a radio control airplane if you are not going to register a passenger bearing aircraft because you cannot legally fly it without the registration aboard (and a pilot's license of course).By passenger bearing aircraft, I mean any aircraft that is capable of carrying real people aboard, including the pilot....Show more
